  • Insurance - Chinchillas.com will give the Buyer a replacement guarantee for purchased chinchillas, for up to 90 days, as long as the animals are in our possession. We guarantee that your chinchillas will not malocclude, fur chew, or die during this period. If any of the Buyer's chinchillas needs to be replaced, or if Chinchillas.com determines that any of the Buyer's chinchillas do not appear to be in export condition prior to export, Chinchillas.com will require the Buyer to select a replacement chinchilla(s) of his or her choice from the web site.
Angoras may only be replaced by Angoras, and non-Angoras may only be replaced by non-Angoras.
  • For Royal Persian Angora Purchases - The purchase price includes transport from Texas to Ohio, and quarantine in Ohio

Not included in the purchase price of your chinchillas:

  • Board - Board is free for 30 days, starting on the date of purchase for chinchillas purchased from the Sales Gallery, or the date the Auction closes for chinchillas purchased on the Auction. After the first 30 days, board is .50 cents per day per chinchilla.
  • Certificate of Origin - Certificates of Origin are only required by a few countries. Certificates of Origin are $200.
  • Importing Veterinary Inspection Fee - For shipments entering Europe in one country, but with a final destination in another country, we may collect the European import vet station's inspection fee up front. Europe has begun mandating that the airlines collect this fee at the time of consignment, rather than from the importer at the time of customs clearance as they have in the past. This fee varies from country to country, and is charged based on the country where the animals first land. For example, as of October 2009, Copenhagen's vet inspection fee is $100, Frankfurt's is $75, and Stockholm's is $400. The airlines often list this fee as the AVI or LGC fee on the waybill. If we collect the European Vet Inspection fee from you, check your waybill and make sure you are not charged a second time when you collect your chinchillas in Europe. At this time, Europe is not collecting this import fee up front on non-stop and through flights, so accordingly, neither are we. If you have any questions concerning how this fee is billed, please don't hesitate to contact us.
  • Import Permits - Import Permits are required by many countries. It is the importer's responsibility to obtain any required import permits prior to import, and preferably prior to bidding. Any costs associated with obtaining an import permit are the responsibility of the importer.
  • Import taxes and fees - It is the importer's responsibility to comply with their country's import requirements, pay any applicable import taxes that their government charges to them, and pay any applicable fees that their government charges them relating to their import. It is the importer's responsibility to make himself or herself aware of all import requirements and fees prior to placing an order.
  • Import Brokers - If the importer chooses to utilize the services of an import broker or intermediary consignee, the fees associated with those services provided by the import broker or intermediary consignee are the importer's responsibility.
  • Veterinary Inspection Fees - Some countries charge a Veterinary Inspection Fee upon import. Any applicable importing Veterinary Inspection Fees are the responsibility of the importer.
  • Postponement of Export - If the importer cancels or postpones a shipment after the shipping date has been confirmed, a fee of $1,000 will be added to the invoice for re-scheduling of export services.
  • Post-Consignment Insurance - Most air carriers do not offer adequate insurance coverage on live animals. Chinchillas.com's insurance ceases at the time the chinchillas are consigned to the airlines. Starting at the time of consignment, all risk of loss becomes the buyer's responsibility.
  • Pre-purchase Exams - Buyers are welcome to schedule pre-purchase exams for any chinchillas they are interested in purchasing. We will provide the contact information, upon request, of our herd veterinarian, or the buyer may hire a licensed veterinarian of his or her choice. The cost of farm calls, office visits, exams, labs, cultures, or other testing that the buyer might like to have done is the buyer's responsibility.

Other requirements:

  • International clients must pay for their chinchillas within 10 days of the purchase date.
  • Importers MUST import their shipments in a timely manner. We must export your order within 90 days of the date your first chinchilla was purchased. Chinchillas.com exports six times a year.
